Recent sources claimed that Real Madrid’s last-minute push was preventing Barcelona from signing Arda Guler from Fenerbahce.
SPORT is saying that Barcelona is still in the lead to sign the Turkish international, despite Los Blancos’ efforts to entice him to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Deco’s visit to Turkey last week tipped the scales in the Blaugrana’s favor. The idea being offered in Barcelona persuaded the young sensation and his entourage.
Even though Guler had a €17.5 million release clause, the Catalans were willing to pay Fenerbahce €23 million to sign him. This made Fenerbahce quite satisfied with the transaction.
According to the report, the 18-year-old has reportedly reached an agreement with the club and will sign a five-year contract.
The plan has always been to keep Guler on loan at Fenerbahce for another year before bringing him into the team, given Barça’s condition with regard to Financial Fair Play.
To be specific, the young offensive midfielder has asked Barcelona to loan him to a team other than Fenerbahce after the Catalans sign him, according to a report from SPORT.
The Turkish giants were eager to continue utilizing and benefiting from their adolescent prodigy’s skills for another year.
Guler, who is aware that he must go out on loan for a year before getting a shot at Barcelona, thinks it would be better for his growth to play for a team outside of Turkey and enhance his ability to adapt to other playing styles.
Guler thinks that action would put him on the proper path to getting ready to play for Barcelona a year later.
Real Betis, a La Liga opponent of the Blaugrana, has expressed interest in signing Guler on a temporary basis when the latter signs him. If the 18-year-old insists on playing outside of Turkey next season, Barcelona may want to take that into consideration.
