A club has submitted a new €100

A club has submitted a new €100 million bid for Frenkie De Jong as final decision made on deadline day.

Journalist Gerard Romero revealed the shocking disclosure that on the day of the transfer deadline, Barcelona received a sizable €100 million bid for midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

The 25-year-old international from the Netherlands has been the subject of transfer rumors all summer long. Manchester United initially made a concerted effort to acquire him and had already agreed to a €85 million contract with Barça.

De Jong, though, resisted moving to Old Trafford because he wanted to be successful at Spotify Camp Nou, and the fact that United did not provide Champions League play was another huge turnoff.

Chelsea reportedly tried to broker a transfer for de Jong and also expressed interest in the Dutchman. However, the midfielder once more gave no indication that he might be open to leaving the Catalan powerhouses this summer.

It has been abundantly evident over the past week that de Jong will stay with Barcelona past the summer transfer window.

Romero is now claiming that an unnamed club tried to sign the former AFC Ajax starlet on the day of the transfer deadline despite that. The squad in issue is rumored to have made de Jong a massive offer worth close to €100 million.

The Netherlands international is unlikely to leave Barcelona in the next hours, despite the money being offered.

In the Catalans’ first three league games, De Jong has only made one start, but he plans to stick around and compete for a spot in the starting lineup as he works to succeed at the club.

He and his wife are content in Spain, and the player maintained his hard stance in the face of intense interest from United and Chelsea.

United might try to sign De Jong this January or next summer given the coach’s fondness for him.

It will be fascinating to watch who gives in first since De Jong has not yet agreed to lower his pay.
