There are a lot of Messi supporters out there.
Following Argentina’s historic World Cup victory, one person in particular has elevated their passion to new heights.
When the little magician’s face was shaved into the back of his skull, the supporter thought it was time for a new fade.
Hairstylist Anton Barber from the Dominican Republic shared a photo on Instagram that showcased his spectacular style. Bravo, man.
Some supporters may choose to just celebrate by donning the winning team’s blue and white colors. However, not this person, and power to him, in all honesty. The brilliant barber stated in his post: “Being a part of the Messi era, when football history was rewritten, is a blessing.
“I followed several world cups in the hopes that you would be given the opportunity to take home the lovely global trophy.
“Soccer unites, and today Latin America triumphed. You excel both on and off the field.”
It follows a 4-2 loss to France in the Lusail Stadium in Doha, Qatar, in which Messi led his team to victory.
Despite teasing before the tournament that he would, the great player declared he would not be leaving football anytime soon, much to the delight of many devoted fans.
He said to TyC: “In a short period of time, I won the World Cup and Copa America.
“I enjoy my work with the national team, and I hope to win the global championship for a few more games.
The tributes are now pouring in.
Apart from the occasional haircut, according to Reuters, tattoo artists are overrun with people requesting Messi ink.
Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina, has seen a surge in visitors to tattoo parlors.
Tattoo artist Sebastian Arguello Paz, who was wearing the jersey of national goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez told the outlet: “I knew lots of people wanted tattoos of Messi and the team, because they had already booked me before the final.
“I never imagined there would be a queue at the shop the next day.”
However, it was one of Messi’s fiery moments after the Argentina and Netherlands clash, inspiring one fan to honour the icon.
“When Messi said ‘What are you looking at, dummy?’, I knew that if we won I would get it tattooed,” Maria Celia Compagno, 68, told Reuters.
