After Real Madrid lost the Clasico, Courtois said that preseason results weren’t important.
The outcome of the preseason Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid has not, according to Thibaut Courtois, had an impact on the Los Blancos players.
Real Madrid’s first match of the summer was against Barcelona on Sunday in a preseason friendly match that was played in Las Vegas and was lost by Carlo Ancelotti’s team by a score of 1-0.
There are only so many inferences you can make, Courtois remarked.
“Some people have been in the gym for two weeks, while others have only been there for one.
“The most crucial thing is to establish a rhythm and begin with good intensity, something we lacked in previous years.
“For a debut match, it was decent. The only issue is that they scored a fantastic goal while we went without scoring.
“They got one that went into the top corner while we hit the crossbar.
“In preseason, the outcome is meaningless.
“I recall our 7-3 loss to Atletico Madrid, after which we defeated them twice and won the league that year.
“The current results are fairly silent. We would obviously want to win, especially in front of American supporters, but it was our first game, so we needed to settle in.
Although we don’t like losing, we shouldn’t react too strongly to it.
Hazard’s role is discussed by Courtois.
Eden Hazard hasn’t quite lived up to the hype at Real Madrid, but Courtois believes his countryman can contribute significantly to Los Blancos this season.
Courtois continued, “It depends on where the coach puts him.
“In Belgium, he plays inside rather than as a striker in a 3-4-3 formation. It thus depends.
“He’s doing fantastic. He’s only been practicing for a week, but I’m confident he can contribute significantly to the team.
“We’ll have to see how we can put the team together with Eden when Karim [Benzema] returns.
“The coach should answer these questions.
His wounds are from the past. He was booted by [Antonio] Rudiger the other day in practice, and he got up [laughs].
