Amid Barcelona return rumours, Paris Saint-Germain set to offer Lionel Messi a two-year deal.
Lionel Messi has been linked with a return to Spotify Camp Nou ever since he left Barcelona for Paris Saint-Germain in 2021.
As the 35-year-old neared the final year of his contract in France, the rumors accelerated in recent months.
In fact, Messi had a two-year deal with PSG when he transferred there for free. If the Argentine icon accepts, there is the possibility of a 12-month extension. But a return to Barcelona has received a lot of attention over the last few months.
President Joan Laporta has taken the initiative to win over supporters by adamantly stating in numerous interviews that Messi’s time at Barcelona is still far from done.

The club’s manager, Xavi Hernandez, is also amenable to inviting his former teammate back for one final performance.
Due to the way his departure from the club was handled last year, Barcelona has been attempting to rebuild their relationship with the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner.
Apparently, the Blaugrana will stop at nothing to re-sign Messi for the following season. However, PSG will not give up easily as they attempt to retain the Argentina captain past 2023.
In fact, as noted by Loic Tanzi of L’Equipe (h/t Mundo Deportivo), the Ligue 1 winners are considering whether Messi’s two-year contract extension is feasible.
According to reports, Les Parisiens are overjoyed with his contribution to the team and the caliber of his performances and want to retain him around for another two years.
Messi, however, has his sights fixed on the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and is not currently thinking about his future. He won’t start talking about his contract or his future predicament until the quadrennial spectacular is complete.
It will be intriguing to watch what the 35-year-old icon decides come the summer of 2023, with Barcelona eager to have Messi return and PSG determined to maintain hold of him.
