Angel Di Maria’s wife slammed Manchester United as she revealed the reason why his husband left Real Madrid for the Red Devils.
After Angel Di Maria’s unsuccessful transfer to Manchester United eight years ago, his wife Jorgelina has criticized Manchester living, the food, and even ladies.
Angel Di Maria’s wife, Jorgelina, has disclosed that she begged her husband not to sign a contract with Manchester United back in 2014 because she was worried about living in England.
United broke the British transfer record in August 2014 when they acquired the winger for about £60 million. On Monday night, they defeated their bitter rivals Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford to earn their first victory of the year. Di Maria’s one-year stay at Real Madrid came to an end with the club’s statement signing.
The Argentine, however, found it difficult to adjust to life in the Premier League and departed Old Trafford just 11 months later to join the Paris Saint-Germain, a French powerhouse. In his 32 games for United, he only made four goals and 12 assists.
Before departing the team at the conclusion of the previous season, Di Maria spent seven years in the French city. Juventus of Italy recently snatched him up on a free transfer.
His wife, Jorgelina, has since revealed how angry she was with her husband for choosing to work for United eight years ago. She has made negative remarks about English culture, food, and even women.
Before Di Maria moved to Old Trafford, she had been to England and wasn’t too impressed.
She explained to the Argentine TV program LAM that an angel once approached her and said, “Look at this proposal from Manchester United.” “I told him to go alone since I didn’t want to go.
“He said, “Let’s go, both of us. More than the Spaniards had offered, it was a large sum of money. We then left.
“You run away if someone offers you twice as much money when you’re employed by a corporation. We spent a year on vacations in Manchester and became acquainted with Gianinna Maradona, Sergio Aguero’s wife.
“It was awful all the time. When we got home, I told the kids, “If you ever get transferred, make sure it’s anywhere else in the world but England.”
I didn’t like it at all, she continued. I’ll let you know. All people are strange. You don’t know if they’re going to kill you as you stroll about.
“The cuisine is terrible. The women had porcelain-like looks.
Angel and I were in Madrid, cheering for the best team in the world, and everything was ideal—the food, the weather, everything. The offer from United then followed.
I firmly refused, but he persisted in insisting that we must go once our financial situation has improved. We quarreled over it… When anything goes wrong, we try to be closer.
It’s not my fault that he went there. It was horrible, terribly abhorrent. I simply said, “Darling, I want to commit suicide; it is now after two in the evening.”
