Former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte made a return back to the Stamford Bridge tonight, but his mission was unsuccessful as Thomas Tuchel’s men found form back in the London Derby. A lot of things learnt from the Chelsea victory over Tottenham tonight.
We’ll be sharing with you some of the things learnt from the game tonight, including the questionable decision made by the VAR in the first half of the game.
Antonio Conte’s Mission Unsuccessful
Antonio Conte gave his all as a Chelsea manager and he went ahead in winning the premier league trophy for the blues, but he left the club after things turned against him. He returned back to the EPL after he parted ways with Inter Milan.
He came back to the Stamford Bridge to secure all the three points against the blues after a dramatic victory over Leicester City in their last League game. He failed to defeat Chelsea as Harkim Ziyech and Thiago Silva came big for Chelsea.
He could have become the first former Chelsea manager to earn all the three points on his return to the Stamford Bridge, but Chelsea kept that record and no manager have done that. His mission was unsuccessful as he got defeated.
VAR Questionable Decision In The First Half
Sometimes we don’t really know what is right or wrong because the EPL officials made decisions that are unacceptable. I think that the club could’ve done better if the VAR didn’t rule out the first goal scored by Harry Kane.
The referee concluded that Harry Kane had contact with Thiago Silva, but looking at the picture below, you could see that that hand can’t bring the Chelsea defender down. He chased the ball without obstruction. That was a little contact, but his goal was ruled out.
Is the goal ruled out due to home advantage? It’s something that needs a third review by the VAR. I would say that the team lost confidence after that goal was ruled out. Tottenham gave their all in the first half, but the scoreline couldn’t be the same changed if the goal was awarded.
Tottenham has lost a three huge points to the blues and this could affect their top four race. Arsenal also dropped points today and I think that Manchester United has got every reason to be happy.
Harkim Ziyech Found His Form Back
The Chelsea winger scored a beauty against Tottenham tonight. Harkim Ziyech is one of the most criticized players at the club, but the Moroccan winger has found his form back.
Harkim Ziyech gave everything on the pitch tonight, he gave Chelsea the lead in the second half and he put on a man of the match performance. He scored only two premier league goals in his first season at Chelsea.
Harkim Ziyech has now scored 2 premier league goals in the last two games that he played for the blues. It’s a night to remember for the Moroccan winger. He scored against Brighton in their last game and he helped Chelsea earned the three points tonight.
