Thomas Tuchel faced the media this afternoon ahead of the Manchester City game this weekend.
The Chelsea boss gave his thoughts on the return of Kenedy and other things concerning the club. We’ll be looking at some of the important things the manager said ahead of the game.
Antonio Rudiger’s Contract Runs Out In June
The Chelsea defender is still in talks with the board and he is yet to reach an agreement with the club. Chelsea are confident that he will sign a new deal at the club, but other clubs might be talking to him ahead of a move in the summer.
He will become a free agent in the summer and many clubs are interested in signing him, including Manchester United and Real Madrid. He is a world class defender that every manager will like to work with. He will be looking forward to the game against Manchester City this weekend.
Chelsea Covid-19 Crisis Ahead Of City Clash
Chelsea has struggled with Covid-19 cases this season, but the club are not getting a positive response from the premier league. Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that Andreas Christensen has tested positive for Covid-19 and he is set to be out for some days.
The Danish defender has done really well this season and he is one of their top players. Andreas Christensen is yet to renew his contract at the club and he current deal will expire in June 2022. Chelsea will try their possible best to reach an agreement with him soon.
The club can’t afford to lose two top defenders in June. I would say that Andreas Christensen is happy at the club and he is ready to sign a new deal, if the club meet his demands. Barcelona is one of the clubs that are interested in signing the Danish defender.
Reece James Injury Update
Thomas Tuchel told the media that there’s no news about Reece’s injury, maybe good news, but the English right-back is still out including Trevoh Chalobah and Ben Chilwell. The manager will make his selections without these top players.
Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante are all available for selection including Thiago Silva. Thomas Tuchel is set to face the league leaders this weekend and it’s not going to be an easy game for the team because Manchester City are injury free and no Covid-19 cases.
Kenedy’s Return Back To The Club
The Brazilian youngster made a move back to the club this winter and he is set to be in action this week. The Chelsea board cancelled his loan spell at Flamengo and he is back to the club to fight for his place.
The German manager claimed that it’s an opportunity for him to make his mark in the team. I think that the Brazilian winger will step up his game at the club and he could even play as a left wing back.
These are some of the important things Thomas Tuchel said ahead of the Manchester City game. Let’s see what will happen this weekend.
