Arsenal have saved themselves £15m as Spanish manager Mikel Arteta approved Edu’s fifth summer signing, after the arrival of Gabriel Jesus.
With the departure of two of their key acquisitions from this summer, Arsenal will save themselves £15 million. Oleksandr Zinchenko, a former teammate of Gabriel Jesus’ from Manchester City, is expected to join him at the Emirates.
Gabriel Jesus paid City £45 million to join Arsenal earlier this month. On his debut outing for the team, the Brazilian made an early impression by scoring twice in the friendly victory over FC Nurnberg.
ESPN, though, asserts that City initially wanted up to £55 million to sign the striker. The Premier League winners’ asking price was £10 million more than the Gunners were able to negotiate.
And they are set to save more cash in the Zinchenko deal. Manchester City were reported to want £35m for the Ukraine international.

The Sun reports that Arsenal and City have agreed to pay £30 million for the 25-year-old, which is less than what City had requested. It appears that Edu, the technical director of Arsenal, was able to close both acquisitions for £15 million less than originally anticipated.
Arsenal is expected to add Zinchenko as their fifth summer acquisition. The north Londoners have already spent more than £85 million on the additions of Jesus, Fabio Vieira, Matt Turner, and Marquinhos.
With the purchase of Zinchenko, their summer expenditure will surpass £100 million. For the second consecutive summer, Arsenal has easily surpassed the £100 million threshold.
Last year saw six signings brought to the club. Ben White was the most expensive acquisition at £50m.
