Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is up for the Barcelona job in the future as club value is work in the EPL.
Mikel Arteta’s work at Arsenal is highly valued by Barcelona, and the club considers him a potential manager in the future, according to Luis Miguel Sanz of SPORT.
Early in his playing career, Arteta received training at Barça’s La Masia youth academy until leaving in 2002. The Spaniard joined Pep Guardiola’s coaching team at Manchester City in 2016 after leaving his position at Arsenal and retiring.
After serving as the former Barcelona manager’s assistant for three years, Arteta was given control of Arsenal in December 2019, succeeding Unai Emery. And the 40-year-old has performed admirably thus far.
In addition to developing youthful talent like Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Martinelli, and Bukayo Saka, Arteta has the squad playing an appealing brand of football. He has already led Arsenal to the top of the Premier League standings this season after helping them win the FA Cup and the Community Shield.
Barcelona, who appreciates the work Arteta has been doing at the Emirates Stadium, has taken notice of all this. The Blaugrana believe the 40-year-old is qualified to lead the Catalan club in the future because of this.
There is presently no urgent plan to replace Xavi Hernandez as the manager of Barça’s first team. The club actually wants the 42-year-old to continue leading for a very long period.
However, the Blaugrana will take Arteta into consideration if and when the time comes for a breakup. He is familiar with the club’s principles because he went through the La Masia system, and working with Guardiola has only helped him refine them.
Arteta is therefore thought to be an excellent fit for Barcelona, although as was stated previously, there is no plan to replace Xavi, who has the club’s entire backing despite recent setbacks in the UEFA Champions League.
