Atletico Madrid Ramp Up Efforts To Sign Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo By Selling Antoine Griezmann.
Atletico Madrid is stepping up their efforts to sign Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo by making room on their payroll for the 37-year-old.
According to a report by Duncan Castles for The Times, the Spanish club needs to make room in their wage structure in order to finalize a deal.
They have made French forward Antoine Griezmann available for transfer in order to accomplish that.
Atletico made the player available to prospective clubs last week, including Ligue 1 champion Paris Saint-Germain.
The 31-year-old, however, is not of interest to the French team.
The player is halfway through a two-year loan agreement with a €40 million “compulsory permanent transfer clause.”
Ronaldo, a forward for United, has expressed interest in going back to Madrid. He moved from Old Trafford to the La Liga club’s rival Real Madrid 13 years ago.
Ronaldo would be able to extend his lengthy run in the Champions League with a move to the Metropolitano Stadium after United was demoted to the Europa League following their sixth-place Premier League finish in the previous campaign.
However, the manager is eager to collaborate with the illustrious forward, and the striker is equally astounded by Diogo Simeone.
The report also states that the Portuguese’s request for a transfer is primarily motivated by personal issues.
Because of these unidentified personal reasons, Ronaldo was unable to travel with United on their tours of Thailand and Australia.
On the road, Erik ten Hag’s team had three victories and a draw. with outstanding victories over Crystal Palace and Liverpool.
Ten Hag has been fairly evasive when discussing the striker’s situation, but has insisted that he is not up for sale this summer.
“This season, Cristiano Ronaldo and I are planning together, and that’s it. I’m excited to collaborate with him, “Journalists were informed by the manager a few weeks ago.
“Cristiano is not for sale; he is a part of our plans and our shared goal is success.
“I talked to him before this problem arose. I spoke with him, and we had a great conversation.
He emphasized those ideas earlier this week and added his conviction that the forward could succeed by adjusting to his way of doing things.
The United manager said, “I think Cristiano is capable of pressing.” “He has displayed everything in his career. My request has been made. We have a certain style of play in mind. A top player can make a difference, and Ronaldo is without a doubt our team’s best player.
He even made a suggestion that United might try to extend his stay at the Theatre of Dreams by exercising the contract’s option for an additional year.
I am aware that he has the option of another year. Yes, he could continue past the upcoming season. Obviously, I signed a three-year contract here, but in football, contracts are often only temporary.
