Barca legend Lionel Messi makes peace with Barcelona president Joan Laporta amid rumours over a summer move.
Barcelona have enjoyed a wealth of success following the arrival of Robert Lewandowski in the summer. The Polish international has scored 12 goals since joining the club from Bayern Munich and remains one of the best strikers in Europe.
However, despite Lewandowski’s unbridled success, Barcelona remain attentive to the situation revolving around Lionel Messi.
The club legend had left Camp Nou abruptly in 2021 amid disagreements with the board and a financial crisis. He subsequently joined Paris Saint-Germain on a two-year deal, but with his contract expiring in 2023, a return to Catalonia could soon be on the horizon.
Barcelona is making every effort to convince Messi to return to Camp Nou, and a recent report from Albert Lasan suggests that Joan Laporta, the club’s president, has even made amends with the Argentine in anticipation of a possible summer transfer.
Messi and Laporta, who got to know one another well during the latter’s first stint at Barça, appear to have reconciled their disagreements and are in discussions about a prospective reunion at Camp Nou.

Although Lasan asserts that Paris Saint-Germain will make every effort to keep Messi at Parc des Princes, the lure of a switch back to Barça will be difficult to resist. Even more recent rumours imply that the Argentinean player has no intention of extending his PSG deal.

Despite Messi’s stellar start to the season, in which he has seven goals and eight assists in just 12 matches of competition, this is the case. He has been the PSG frontline’s main motivator this season.
Barcelona is eager to pair the 35-year-old with another seasoned striker in Lewandowski since he is still at the peak of his game. This might result in a strike tandem that could help the Catalans regain their former glory in the future.
