In front of more than 77,000 spectators, Barcelona hosted Victoria Plzen of the Czech Republic today to begin their Champions League campaign.
On his first start for his new club, Franck Kessie opened the goal for the hosts to get things going fast. Jules Kounde caught Ousmane Dembele’s corner and deflected it toward the Ivorian who was only a few meters away.
Robert Leawndowski added the second and third goals, continuing his stellar play from earlier in the season, with some assistance from Sergi Roberto and Dembele (sensational assist, too).

6 ter Marc-Andre ter Stegen Really, Stegen didn’t have much to do. In no way was the goal his fault, and while he was on the ball, he maintained his composure.
Roberto Sergio: 7
Roberto performed admirably in his first start of the season. His efforts were rewarded with an assist for Lewandowski after he inverted exceptionally well to step in as a substitute midfielder.
6.5 Andreas Christensen
Christensen had a significant role in today’s build-up but otherwise had very little to accomplish.
6.5 Jules Kounde
One cannot totally blame him for Plzen’s goal, but the Frenchman ought to have done better to reposition himself. nonetheless, has three assists in three games after assisting in the opener.
7.5 for Jordi Alba
Alba tonight will make the crowd happy because he appeared much more stable than he did against Rayo Vallecano. created three opportunities and played extremely calmly on defense.
(8) Franck Kessie
Added a box threat that paid off perfectly in the first minute and kept the team moving with passes in the middle third of the field.
Six Frenkie de Jong
De Jong released the ball rather slowly and frequently lost possession of it during the first half, which was adequate but unimpressive. Even though it’s not his typical job, he needs to be extra rigorous.
Pedri: 8
Always the center of the Barcelona midfield and a delight to watch. Could have scored today, but it is more than excused given that he is in charge of coming up with several movements per minute.
9.5 for Ousmane Dembele
Dembele, who was everywhere in the assault, pulled off a show-stopper. He began out weak, but as the game went on, he continued getting stronger.
The Frenchman truly let it all out tonight, displaying flawless dribbling, excellent defensive play, and two assists to top it all off.
10 for Robert Lewandowski
Lewandowski has just played five games this season, but it already seems like he should have had a good number of hat tricks. In any case, we got one today, and in a spectacular way.

The first goal was scored from outside the penalty area, the second was scored with a close-range header, and the third was a perfect curler into the bottom corner. Elite in every way.
5 Ansu Fati
Just incredibly disappointing. He made all the wrong crosses, passes, and shots today.
