Barcelona are considering a free transfer move for Chelsea midfielder to replace Sergio Busquets.
Barcelona may be planning another free transfer raid for yet another Chelsea player after signing Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen next summer, with Jorginho surfacing as a target for the team.
Given that Jorginho’s contract with the Blues expires in 2023, Barcelona is reportedly mulling a move for the Brazilian international as a possible Sergio Busquets replacement.
Busquets is entering the final year of his deal with the Blaugrana, and it appears that he has his sights set on a move to the MLS. The club captain will turn 35 by the start of the following season, even if he stays another year, so the Catalans will need to find a replacement.
Barça is considering a number of prospects, with Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad and Ruben Neves of Wolves being long-term ambitions. But according to the aforementioned rumor, the La Liga leaders are also considering Jorginho as a captain replacement.

The Italian international moved to Chelsea from Napoli in 2018 and has since been a mainstay in the middle of the field, helping the London club win the Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and other championships.
Jorginho was a crucial member of the Italian national squad that won the UEFA Euro 2020 championship the previous year. According to the article, Barcelona sees the midfielder, who was born in Brazil and checks numerous boxes for Xavi’s team, as a potential replacement for Busquets.
deal next summer makes Jorginho an even more attractive option. However, a contract extension with Chelsea cannot be ruled out at this point and it will depend on new manager Graham Potter’s vision for the team.
The Catalans signed two Chelsea players on Bosman deals this past summer in Christensen and Alonso and even tried to get Cesar Azpilicueta. And Jorginho could be the next player that they look to swoop away from Stamford Bridge.
