Barcelona are considering a move for Premier League winger Wilfried Zaha as Memphis Depay’s replacement in January.
Memphis Depay’s likely departure from Barcelona, either in January or at the end of the current campaign, will leave a vacancy in the attacking group at Camp Nou.
Additionally, SPORT reports that Barcelona is contemplating a move for Wilfried Zaha, a winger for Crystal Palace and the Ivory Coast, as a potential replacement for the Netherlands international.
The 29-year-old is in the final year of his deal with Crystal Palace and is prepared to move on to the next phase of his career after spending a significant amount of time there. Additionally, he is rumored to be open to the idea of moving to Spain.
This appears to have alerted Barcelona, who are now reportedly considering a move to sign Zaha to a Bosman contract at the end of the current campaign.
Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski’s summer hirings, along with Ousmane Dembele’s renewal, have already given the Catalans a strong attacking unit.
Depay’s departure, though, appears to be impending, so there will be a void that someone like Zaha could fill. For years, the 29-year-old has been Crystal Palace’s top performer.
The former Manchester United star is versatile and capable of scoring frequently from anywhere in the frontline. In fact, Zaha scored 15 goals for Palace last season across all competitions, and he has already scored six goals in 12 games this year.
Barcelona does not prioritize adding attacking reinforcements; instead, they see Zaha as a potential market opportunity. According to rumors, the La Liga giants had been following the Ivorian but were put off by his transfer fee.
However, the Catalan club has made it clear that they will not be making a bid for the Ivorian and will instead wait until the summer if at all possible to sign him for nothing.
