Barcelona are interested in signing talented right-back amid Diogo Dalot winter 2023 move.
Arnau Martinez, a young defender for Girona, is being attentively watched by Barcelona, according to Adrian Sanchez.
The 19-year-old, a former La Masia prospect, played at Barcelona’s youth program from 2010 to 2016, where he shared the field with players like Alejandro Balde and Xavi Simons.
He departed the team, though, in order to join L’Hospitalet in 2016, and two years later, he joined Girona. He has since progressed through the Catalan club’s ranks and was an important member of the group that returned to La Liga earlier this year.
Martinez has done well in his first season in the Spanish top division this time around, even scoring twice in his first five games.
The young defender has reportedly caught Barcelona’s attention once more. He is a versatile defender who can play as a full-back, right wing-back, and center-half.

According to Adrian Sanchez’s report, the Blaugrana have heard positive things about the Spain Under-21 international ever since they explored signing him on a loan with a permanent buy option during the previous campaign.
While no such trade occurred, it appears that Barça has kept an eye on the young player because they will need to make investments in new right-backs by the summer of 2023.
In fact, Hector Bellerin and Sergi Roberto’s contracts will expire at the end of the current campaign, leaving the Catalans without a specialized right-back in the lineup for the following season.
Barcelona may therefore try to sign two right defenders during the upcoming summer transfer window. Additionally, a transfer for the former La Masia star may be possible.
Martinez is contracted with Girona until 2025, having signed a new deal in January earlier this year. It will be interesting to see how much they demand for the young defender if Barcelona decide to act on their interest in him.
For now, though, the Blaugrana are keeping tabs on his progression with their Catalan rivals.
