Barcelona contacts Real Madrid €60 million target to wait until next summer to join Xavi’s team.
Barcelona are still not out of the reckoning for the signing of Palmeiras wonderkid Endrick, claims Joaquim Piera on SPORT.
The 16-year-old Brazilian sensation has been making waves back in his homeland after his breakthrough performances at the Copinha tournament earlier this year.
Having signed his first professional contract with Palmeiras in July, the teenage forward recently broke into the first-team setup at the club. Furthermore, he scored a brace earlier this week, in the process becoming the youngest goalscorer in the history of the Brazilian outfit.
As a result, Endrick has gained a lot of admirers. In addition to Barcelona, PSG and Real Madrid are rumored to be interested in signing him.
In actuality, Barça initiated the pursuit of the striker when they met with his group in September to express their enthusiasm for the promising young player.
However, since then, PSG’s offer of €20 million for Endrick has been rejected, and Real Madrid is now vying for his services. As a result, Barcelona now runs the risk of missing out on signing Endrick.
However, according to the report from Joaquim Piera, the Blaugrana are still in the running to sign the 16-year-old forward.
In front of the January transfer window, it is stated that Barcelona has had to refocus on other objectives. In fact, the Catalan giants are currently searching for a new right back and defensive midfielder after being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.
Although the team is aware that it will require reinforcements in January, it is currently operating on a tight budget, which has caused Endrick to fall down the priority list.
According to the source, Barcelona has instructed Endrick’s camp, with whom they have a shaky relationship, that they must wait until the summer to begin negotiations with Palmeiras about a contract for him.
Barcelona has urged Endrick’s camp to keep them updated on any changes to his status even though they are aware that they may lose him by then. The athlete, who won’t be able to go to Europe until 2024, is also said to be aware of the Catalan club’s predicament.
Barcelona is still a possibility for Endrick’s signing right now.
But as things stand, they are focused on other matters, which might allow teams like PSG and Real Madrid to sign him before them.
