Barcelona forward Memphis Depay has reached agreement with Juventus on a €5 million per year deal.
Memphis Depay’s departure from Barcelona is becoming closer and closer, and he is about to finalize a transfer to Juventus of Italy.
The Bianconeri and the forward’s camp have been negotiating a deal for the Dutch international for some time.
According to Italian news outlet Tuttosport, Depay and Juventus have now signed a formal agreement about a potential transfer, and Barcelona must now approve Depay’s departure by terminating his contract.
The 28-year-old Dutch ace will sign a two-year contract with an option for an extra twelve months, as per the conditions of the agreement. Depay will get a salary of approximately €5 million year, plus an additional €1.5 million in bonuses.
Depay only recently joined Barcelona, moving there on a Bosman deal when his contract with Olympique Lyon expired. The Netherlands striker had a strong rookie season, but since January, he has fallen down the club’s hierarchy.
Ferran Torres and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were both acquired by the Catalans in a double deal in January, and now Robert Lewandowski was also added. It indicated that the Dutchman was no longer needed.
Depay’s contract with Barcelona expires the next year, and he has been pressing to only leave the team on a free transfer because that would give him the freedom to choose his new teams and provide him the chance to receive a signing-on bonus.
Depay now appears to have made the decision to join Juventus and has a contract in place with the Bianconeri. According to reports, his attorneys are working to ensure his departure from Barcelona, and a transfer may be finalized within the next few days.
