Barcelona has given an update on Frenkie De Jong and Memphis Depay’s injuries as El Clasico nears.
Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay were both injured, and Barcelona has officially updated the public on their conditions.
Last Thursday’s UEFA Nations League match between the Netherlands and Poland saw Depay leave the field in the second half due to a thigh injury.
The Dutchman was promptly removed from consideration for the Oranje’s upcoming match, and it was announced that he would take a flight back to Barcelona.
Van Gaal also replaced de Jong in the match against Poland, but the Dutch tactician argued that it was more of a precaution. However, it quickly became clear that the midfielder would also not continue to play for the Dutch squad and would instead go back to Barça.

The medical staff of the Catalan club examined the Netherlands team and gave an official diagnosis of their injuries. Barcelona’s official statement is as follows:
“The examinations conducted this afternoon have verified Frenkie de Jong and Memphis Depay’s injuries.
Frenkie De Jong, a midfielder, has a strain in his left semitendinosus. He is small, and his development will indicate when he is available. Memphis experiences damage to its left biceps femoris as a result. He is weak, and its availability will be marked by its evolution.
The two join Ronald Araujo and Jules Kounde on the sidelines, with the latter scheduled to undergo surgery later this week and be out for more than two months.
