Barcelona have included an anti-injury clause in Ousmane Dembele’s new contract, according to multiple reports.
Ousmane, a winger for Barcelona, has endured a number of injuries over the years that have forced him to miss significant amounts of time.
The winger has also amassed hefty bonuses as part of the variable pay portion of his contract, despite the fact that he would be out of commission.
However, to safeguard the club against the aforementioned scenarios going forward, Barcelona has added a “anti-injury” clause to the Frenchman’s new contract, according to MARCA.
According to the analysis, Barça players have accumulated all of their variables over the years even though they have missed a significant amount of a season.
It happened because a player would meet the need of 50% or more matches played even if he appeared in, say, five of the nine matches they would be eligible for that campaign, according to the language put in the contracts for appearance-based bonuses.
And because Barça is determined to prevent such occurrences in the future, a unique clause has been added to Dembele’s contract.

The 25-year-old has already benefited from the variable bonus loophole, and it is said that he has taken home more than €2 million in a season while playing in fewer than 50% of the club’s official games.
Because of this, Barcelona has included a condition to his new contract that states that the Frenchman will only be eligible to get the variables if he participates in the required number of official matches in a season, regardless of whether he is injured or not.
According to the source, a similar change has also been made to Samuel Umtiti’s contract. Umtiti is now on loan at Serie A team Lecce.
But over the past few months at Barcelona, Dembele has appeared sharper and more fit than ever.
The French international hasn’t had any recent injury problems, and Xavi, Dr. Ricard Pruna, and physiotherapist Carlos Nogueira all played major roles in helping him get fitter.
