Barcelona have told De Jong that he will be left out of the US tour if he refuse to join Manchester United after an agreement with the club.
According to The Athletic, Barcelona has informed Frenkie de Jong that he will be leaving the club to join Manchester United.
Barcelona’s leadership is thought to have advised De Jong that they need to sell him in order to balance their enormous salary bill, which has caused issues in registering their recent acquisitions such as Raphinha.

Barcelona is attempting to persuade De Jong that a move to Manchester United would be the greatest step for his career, and while they feel he is a brilliant player, the choice has come down to an economic one rather than a sporting one.
It is currently unknown if De Jong will join the Barcelona squad on their pre-season tour of the United States, after reports claimed that he will be left out if he fail to join Man Utd.
Earlier today, The Athletic revealed that
United has agreed to pay Barcelona a fixed price of €75 million (£63 million, $75 million) for de Jong, as well as €10 million (£8.47 million, $10 million) in add-ons.
It is said that Barcelona believes United’s bid is fair and that they would prefer a speedy sale because they know it will not last forever.
However, the scenario is further complicated by Barcelona owing De Jong a deferred salary payment of €17 million, which is still preventing the deal from moving forward.
United despatched a delegation to Barcelona to negotiate the signing of De Jong, which resulted in a breakthrough on the transfer cost.
De Jong joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019 for £86 million, and he has since made over 100 appearances.
Barcelona’s financial predicament meant that De Jong’s career was in jeopardy, with £1billion in debt and stringent limitations on recruiting and spending.

Under the management of Erik Ten Hag, De Jong was a standout on the Ajax team that advanced to the Champions League semi-finals in 2018-19, defeating Real Madrid and Juventus along the way.
Manchester United have already completed the signing Dutch sensation Tyrell Malacia.
Christian Eriksen is set to join, and they are also nearing an agreement with Lisandro Martinez.
