Barcelona manager tops the chart

Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez tops the chart of most wins in the top five leagues in Europe.

Barcelona defeated Elche 3-0 on Saturday night at Spotify Camp Nou to take the lead in the La Liga rankings. After losing to Bayern Munich in the middle of the week, the team put up a convincing display.

After drawing their opening match of the season against Rayo Vallecano, the Blaugrana have already won five straight of their six La Liga games this season.

Given the talent and depth of the squad, there is a very real potential that the Catalan giants might win the league this year. The club is beginning to take tremendous shape under manager Xavi Hernandez.

Barcelona equaled a few goal-scoring marks that Pep Guardiola’s 2010–11 Barça team had set with their victory over Elche on Saturday.

In addition, the Blaugrana won for the 19th time in 26 La Liga games in 2022. It implies that Xavi has surpassed Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, in terms of the number of victories in the top five European leagues in the year (18 wins in 25).

Xavi also leads Carlo Ancelotti of Real Madrid, who won 17 of his 24 games this season, in the list of managers with the most victories in the top five league competitions in Europe in 2022.

With 16 points out of a possible 18, Barcelona has enjoyed one of their finest starts to a league season since Ernesto Valverde’s club went on a six-game winning streak to start the 2017–18 season.

Things are undoubtedly going well for Barça under their club legend, and should Real Madrid lose to Atletico Madrid later tonight, the Blaugrana will lead La Liga going into the international break.
