Barcelona new midfield signing is set to play for the academy team starting this weekend.
Excitement was high when Barcelona announced earlier this year that they had signed Racing Santander’s Pablo Torre to a contract.
The kid was after all one of the most intriguing young talents in Spanish football’s lower divisions. In addition, the Blaugrana had triumphed over Real Madrid in the competition to sign the 19-year-old midfielder.
Torre hasn’t had it easy, though, since joining the team. The teenage midfielder has only made one appearance for the senior team thus far, and that appearance lasted just nine minutes against Viktoria Plzen in the UEFA Champions League.
After assisting Racing Santander in gaining promotion from the RFEF First Division to La Liga 2, Torre had been reluctant to play for Barça Athletic because he did not want to do so.
The fact that the youngster was not receiving any playing time, which is essential for his development, had presented a significant problem for the club.

However, there appears to have been a breakthrough as Torre is reportedly willing to play for Barcelona Atletico beginning this weekend when they take on Murcia at Estadi Johan Cruyff.
The midfielder will show up for the reserve squad whenever he will be told to, as he and his environment appreciate how vital it is for him to be playing frequently. The adolescent will continue working with the first-team setup and continuing fighting for a spot in Xavi’s plans.
In a recent interview, Rafa Marquez, the manager of Barça Athletic, expressed his appreciation for having Torre available, and it appears the Mexican tactician may be able to use the talented midfielder as early as Saturday’s match against Murcia.
