Barcelona player ratings – Alex Balde, Lewandowski and other players, who performed at the highest level today.
Barcelona entered this game coming off a 2-0 loss to Bayern Munich. Two defensive miscues by the Blaugrana against their Bavarian opponents negated what had otherwise been an outstanding effort.
Raphinha, Marcos Alonso, and Sergio Busquets were all benched for the match against Elche in favor of Memphis Depay, Alejandro Balde, and Franck Kessie, respectively.
The Barcelona supporters were overjoyed with these adjustments given the state of the opponent and the need for rotation.
Join Barca Universal as we examine how each person performed in this installment of the match ratings in light of Barcelona’s resounding victory over Elche.
Marc Andre ter Stegen: 6.5: The German goalkeeper was on hand to thwart Elche’s attacks when they did occur and did an excellent job of distributing the ball while under pressure.
Jules Kounde 7.5: With Dembele just in front of him, Kounde had an easy job on the right wing. He had no trouble passing the ball, and he was at ease in defense.
Ronald Araujo: 7.7: Araujo was consistently in a good position on the team’s defensive side. The Uruguayan assisted in opening up passing lanes on the field.
Garcia 6.8: Eric Garcia put on what seems to be a routinely excellent effort against Elche in his own half. He always gave ter Stegen the choice to choose him, and this time was no different.
Alberto Balde 8.8: He contributed two assists in an outstanding performance all around. He bravely defended and attacked with unwavering poise and purpose.
Frenkie 7.2: De Jong took over some of Sergio Busquets’ team-wide distribution responsibilities in his absence. He not only made accurate passes with the ball, but also moved into the offensive zones to create threat. He did attempt fast-paced football and did have several sloppy moments.
Franck Kessie 5.1: He delivered a subpar effort on his debut as a pivot. He frequently engaged in careless challenges, leaving Elche’s manager, players, and supporters with the impression that he deserved more than a warning.
Pedri Gonzalez 8.1: The Spaniard, like Pedri, offered the passing lanes that would have been lost without Busquets. The adolescent gave a fantastic performance but will be criticized for leaving the game without scoring or providing an assist.
Ousmane Dembele 7: Dembele played reasonably well, displaying maturity in his ball movement and delivery. He should have had an assist, but he still created a lot of menace with the ball.
Robert Lewandowski 9: One of the top attackers in the world put on another incredible goal-scoring display. Lewandowski netted two goals. Beyond that, though, his play displays maturity as evidenced by the orchestration in his hand gestures that resulted in the team’s second goal. Additionally, he caused the crucial red card that allowed Barça to riot.
Memphis Depay 7.5: The personification of the idea that perseverance is rewarded. Memphis worked extremely hard to get opportunities to score, and when he did, what an effort! His intention was grand and distant.
