Barcelona players made one huge promise to Gerard Pique after his retirement from football last night.
In their resounding 2-0 victory over Almeria, which also happened to be Gerard Pique’s final match for the team, Barcelona maintained their strong start to the domestic season.
Pique received a triumphant send-off, and Barcelona players showered praise on the seasoned defender for his years of dedication to the team.
Pique’s longtime Barcelona teammate Jordi Alba described Pique’s retirement as a trying time for the organization. He added that he was unaware of the defender’s decision to leave the field in advance.
Alba said, “I didn’t know Piqué was going to announce it. “It’s regrettable. A key member of the dressing room departs. This season, we’ll try to dedicate a few titles to Piqué.
Pique was praised for his contributions to the team over the years by Andreas Christensen, another defender for Barcelona who famously took Pique’s place as a substitute late in the game.
It’s a sad night, as I said. We must congratulate him on his successful journey. Since I was young, I’ve been a fan of Piqué and have looked up to him as a role model. He said, “I’ll miss him a lot.
“The victory made it a beautiful night, but Pique’s final game made it a sad one. He was a key player for us and had a wonderful personality. He leaves a significant gap in the club, he continued.
When Ousmane Dembele scored, questions arose regarding his celebration. The Frenchman, who contributed to the night’s scoring, declares to be a fan of NBA great Stephen Curry.
“I enjoy the festivities. I enjoy watching Steph Curry. I anticipated the outcome,” he said.
