In an astonishing admission, MARCA journalist Luis Rojo said that Chelsea player Jorginho had just offered himself to Barcelona. The Catalan giants didn’t even think about signing the Italian international, though.

Since his transfer from Napoli to Chelsea in 2018, Jorginho has been a mainstay in the middle of the field, continuing Maurizio Sarri’s legacy. While the Italian tactician did not remain at Stamford Bridge for a long time, the midfielder has remained and has seen great success.

His future at the club is now seriously in doubt, though, since he has entered the last year of his deal with the Blues.

Recent English rumors said that the Blaugrana would think about replacing Sergio Busquets with him on a Bosman deal in 2019.

Now, Luis Rojo is claiming that Jorginho, who will be an unrestricted free agent next summer, has just made an offer to Barcelona. The 30-year-old midfielder has been made available to the Blaugrana, but they have not thought about signing him.

Jorginho is a seasoned athlete who has seen great success. With Chelsea, he won the Champions League and the Europa League, and last year, he also won the UEFA Euro 2020 with Italy.

The fact that he was available on a Bosman move would have also been attractive to Barcelona, whose finances have been struggling recently. Additionally, a replacement for Busquets is required in the role as his contract expires next summer.

However, it appears that the Catalan powerhouses have decided against trying to recruit Jorginho, despite the fact that the Chelsea star seemed open to the idea. Younger alternatives who have also been on Barcelona’s radar are Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad and Ruben Neves of Wolves.
