BREAKING: Barcelona has reached an agreement in principle with Sevilla for the signing of Jules Kounde as Chelsea deal hijacked.
Jules Kounde’s transfer saga has taken a new turn today with Barcelona and Sevilla agreeing to terms for the Frenchman.
According to a report by Gerard Romero, the two clubs have now reached an agreement, and Kounde will soon be moving to Camp Nou.
The report comes just a few days after it was said that Chelsea and Sevilla had reached a deal. After making the player an alluring €12 million salary offer, the Blues were by far the favorites in the race.
But Kounde’s preference for a transfer to Barcelona, who have already made a bid for the Frenchman after using their second economic lever, is well known.
Kounde’s transfer to Barça was initially resisted by Sevilla because Chelsea had made a much better offer. Los Nervionenses had no choice but to come to an agreement with the Catalans because the player was insistent on moving to Camp Nou.
Barcelona now has the responsibility of coming to a deal with Kounde. Romero claims that the deal is 99 percent finished and that, barring any last-minute surprises, the player will join Barça even though the club is unable to match Chelsea’s €12 million per season offer.
With Thomas Tuchel recently issuing a warning over the Cesar Azpilicueta deal, Kounde’s potential move to Barça could cause them and Chelsea even more friction.
