Brazilian and Newcastle midfielder has been shortlisted as a possible Busquets replacement, with Real Madrid interested.
It is well known that Barcelona is looking for a defensive midfielder. The team is in serious need of a suitable long-term replacement as veteran star Sergio Busquets struggles with form and recognition.
According to a source published by Diario SPORT, Bruno Guimaraes appears to be Barcelona’s primary target already. Due to his appealing playing profile, the Newcastle United superstar has emerged as the club’s preferred choice to succeed Busquets in the long term.
Indeed, since moving to Newcastle at the beginning of the year, Guimaraes has grown to rank among the Premier League’s top midfielders.
With his tremendous technical skill and creative ability, he has become the focal point of NUFC’s second line of press.
Due to Guimaraes’ impressive performances, Barcelona is currently looking into the prospect of acquiring him soon.
According to the report, negotiations between the Catalans and the potential buyers of Guimaraes have already started. Giovani Bertolucci, the player’s agent, is well-known among the Barça community because the Brazilian previously handled matters for Philippe Coutinho and Neto.
The former Lyon superstar will be difficult to entice away from Tyneside, though. After all, the player was only signed by Newcastle United in January for a significant fee, and given the impact he has had, the new owners don’t plan to offload him just yet.
Real Madrid are also interested in signing the Brazilian star next summer, with Jude Bellingham among the list too. The English midfielder would love to favour a move to the Spanish side.
Even though the Magpies intend to sell Guimaraes soon, the Brazilian international is expected to be quite expensive. He could only become more valuable following the conclusion of the upcoming FIFA World Cup, therefore Barcelona will continue to be unable to sign him.
