BREAKING: Barcelona are now pushing for Bernardo Silva as Real Madrid pulled out of the race.
Barcelona has already spent the most money in the summer transfer market, but some people think they still have more to invest. After Jules Kounde’s transfer from Sevilla was finalized, speculation about Bernardo Silva of Manchester City arose.
Silva is eager to move, and the Blaugrana are eager to have him. Barcelona won’t pursue Silva, though, unless they are successful in getting Frenkie de Jong sold for a high price.
Silva is aware that the de Jong drama is not likely to be resolved any time soon, according to Mundo Deportivo. As a result, Silva has informed Barcelona that he is prepared to hold off on making a move until the last day of the market.
That may be true, but Pep Guardiola may provide a problem for them. Despite the Catalan’s willingness to let disgruntled players leave, Manchester City won’t have played a month into their season by then, and Guardiola might be unwilling to make any changes.
Manchester City’s chances of winning the title would suffer greatly from the loss of a player of Silva’s height and caliber thus late in the transfer window.
Real Madrid are not interested in signing the Portuguese midfielder this summer and their decision is clear.
Fabrizio Romano: “Barcelona are STRONGLY interested in Bernardo Silva but need to first sell Frenkie de Jong before negotiating for Silva”
The Spanish giants want to offload Frenkie De Jong before signing Bernardo Silva. He want to work together with Xavi Hernandez and he is ready to wait.
