BREAKING: Barcelona makes decision on signing Hector Bellerin after the player rejected three offers to wait for Xavi Hernandez.
According to sources, Arsenal was compelled to wait for Barcelona before Hector Bellerin’s contract could be terminated. That’s because Bellerin allegedly turned down three offers from other places in order to get to the Nou Camp.
The right-back from Spain is not going to stay at Arsenal. His loan season with Real Betis ended last year, and he was eager to sign a long-term contract with the Spanish team.
However, Betis has been unable to put together a contract that Bellerin would accept. The 27-year- old’s name has also been connected to Barca, and it now seems like that is his favorite location.
Bellerin allegedly has a contract that will be torn up by Arsenal so that he can go and sign with another team for free, according to the Spanish publication Sport. However, Bellerin won’t proceed with the mutual termination until he has a plan in place.
According to the article, Bellerin had three proposals from Serie A clubs, with Udinese, Sassuolo, and Atalanta all making recent attempts to recruit him.
He has, however, turned down each of the three offers in the expectation that Barca will make a late-game offer. Thomas Meunier of Borussia Dortmund has also been mentioned in connection with Barcelona’s search for a right defender.
But the La Liga heavyweights might be interested in landing Bellerin on a free transfer. Bellerin would only be entitled to the wage he now receives from Arsenal, according to Sport, therefore Barca would only be required to cover that.
Bellerin graduated from Barca’s youth before joining Arsenal in 2011. He has made 239 appearances for the Gunners, but since suffering an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury in early 2019, he has found it difficult to perform at the same level as before.
He is expected to join Barcelona this summer after the departure of Sergino Dest. Xavi Hernandez will love to work together with the Spanish international.
