Casemiro jersey number revealed as he is set to be presented at Old Trafford before the Liverpool game on Monday night.
According to sources, Casemiro will be introduced as a Manchester United player before Monday night’s Premier League matchup against Liverpool.
The Brazilian midfielder, who moved to United in a £70 million deal from Real Madrid, won’t play against Jurgen Klopp’s team since it took some time to get his visa approved.
However, the Spanish magazine Marca reports that he will attend a pre-game ceremony at Old Trafford and watch Monday’s encounter from the stands.
According to a claim by journalist Mario Cortegana, Casemiro will don the’mythical’ number 18 jersey that club icon Paul Scholes once wore.
The midfielder is anticipated to make his long-awaited debut on Saturday when Manchester United takes on Southampton at St. Mary’s. However, Real Madrid will bid the Brazilian international a fond farewell first.
He will bid farewell to the Los Blancos players and supporters on Monday during a press conference with the club’s president Florentino Perez and his board of directors.
Before boarding a flight to Manchester, Casemiro will be accompanied by his family and the 18 titles he has won during his nine-year stay in Madrid, according to Marca.
After a dismal start to the Premier League season, Erik ten Hag will be hopeful that Casemiro’s arrival can improve things on the field.
The lack of a deep-lying midfielder, according to the Dutch boss, was a major factor in the team’s opening two losses to Brentford and Brighton.
We had a solid preseason, in my opinion, Ten Hag stated. “However, our nine is lacking due to (Cristiano) Ronaldo’s unfitness, (Anthony) Martial’s injury, and the absence of the six holding midfield position.
“The goaltender wasn’t playing at his best in the first game, and we had two center halves who hadn’t previously played together.
“There is a very obvious cause, but I am certain that we will address it and improve the outcomes. That was already evident throughout preseason.”
