Cesc Fabregas recommended Barcelona the signing of now-Real Madrid midfield sensation before he sign for Madrid this summer.
It’s a common misconception that Cesc Fabregas spent the most of his time at Barcelona on the bench while Xavi and Andres Iniesta garnered most of the attention in the midfield.
That was undoubtedly not the case as he took part in 151 games and contributed to approximately 100 goals.
Since then, he has kept up close contacts with the team and a number of former players, particularly Lionel Messi. In fact, he says he suggested a top signing for Barça last year.
“I am well-versed in Tchouameni. I recommended his signing to Barcelona officials over the phone, but they were unable to afford to do so. After that, I informed another former team about him, but he ultimately joined my “enemy team,” according to Cesc, who was quoted by SPORT.
Real Madrid is the opposing team in issue, of course. After being linked with various elite teams around Europe, Tchouameni finally completed his move to Santiago Bernabeu this summer for almost to €100 million.
We can infer that Chelsea is the other “former team” Fabregas is referring to. He was compelled to leave Arsenal for Barcelona, and in 2013 he joined their rivals, thus his relationship with them did not end well.
Naturally, questions about recent rumors about Lionel Messi’s potential return to Barcelona were directed towards Fabregas. He spoke impartially and avoided divulging any insider information.
“I want Leo to return as a supporter of Barça. I’d be thrilled to see it. It’s what the team and the supporters imagine,” he remarked.
After three years at AS Monaco, Fabregas just transferred to Como on a free transfer. On August 6th, he is anticipated to make his Coppa Italia debut against Spezia.
