Chelsea are in talks with Brighton for left-back Marc Cucurella with their young centre-back Levi Colwill potentially going the other way.
According to sources, Chelsea has gotten in touch with Brighton regarding defender Marc Cucurella after negotiations with Manchester City stopped over the asking price.
The 24-year-old moved to the south coast from Getafe last summer and signed a five-year contract, but after a brilliant debut in the Premier League, large clubs are showing interest in him.
Cucurella will cost £50 million if he leaves the club after only one season, according to the Seagulls, who have been in talks with Manchester City about the left-back for several weeks.
According to Craig Hope of the Daily Mail, Pep Guardiola’s team has threatened to back out of a deal after making an offer of about £35 million for the Spaniard.
As a result of City’s inability to close a deal, Chelsea is now looking into a potential deal for the defender after getting in touch with Brighton.
If Marcos Alonso decides to depart for Barcelona this summer, Chelsea is looking to replace him. As Thomas Tuchel’s team looks to bring in newcomers before authorizing any defensive exits, no deal has yet been approved.
They are under contract at Chelsea, and we respect this as well as the new owner, said Barcelona president Joan Laporta when asked about their interest in Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta last month. I don’t want to discuss any players from other teams.
“As football players, I appreciate Cesar and Marcos. They are extremely talented athletes. At Chelsea, they exhibit their talent and quality.
But out of respect for Chelsea, I don’t want to discuss them.

Cucurella is “very keen” to leave Chelsea and join the Premier League champions at the Etihad Stadium to work with Pep Guardiola.
Potential swap deals have been considered internally, according to Nathan Gissing.
Other opponents The Blues are trying to bolster their defense by pursuing Denzel Dumfries and Wesley Fofana.
Brendan Rodgers has already informed Chelsea that Fofana won’t be sold this summer.
