Chelsea reached an agreement with Juventus for the signing of Denis Zakaria, after failing to sign Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez.
According to rumours, Chelsea and Juventus have reached an agreement for Denis Zakaria to join them on a temporary basis for the 2022–23 season.
The 25-year-old was considered a backup option by Chelsea as they looked for a midfielder to help with the injuries that Thomas Tuchel has been lamenting in recent weeks, most particularly on Tuesday night after their loss to Southampton.
A €50 million proposal was made for Ajax’s Edson Alvarez, but the Dutch club refused to let the Mexican go so late in the transfer season. PSV’s Ibrahim Sangare was also sought after, but he will stay in Holland.
As Chelsea looked for alternatives, the idea of signing Zakaria arose. Fabrizio Romano’s initial claim, “Tuchel’s side approached Juventus over the possibility of taking the midfielder on loan with an option to buy,” is accurate.
Zakaria will move to west London, according to David Ornstein of The Athletic, who now adds that the teams have reached an agreement for a loan with an option to buy.
Prior to Thursday’s deadline of 11 p.m. (BST), he is having his medical in Turin, and his personal circumstances shouldn’t be an issue.
