Confirm date Karim Benzema will recover from the injury he suffered during France duty, with the Real Madrid captain ruled out of the 26-man squad.

Karim Benzema, the star and captain of Real Madrid, is expected to fully recover from his injury in two weeks, per Diario AS (h/t Madrid Xtra), and then he will participate in a customized training regimen created by Antonio Pintus.

Benzema has so far had a 2022–23 season marred by injuries. The 34-year-old had been dealing with muscle issues for the past month or so, which caused him to miss some of Real Madrid’s games before the World Cup break.

After being selected for the France World Cup team, Benzema resumed light national team training in Qatar before suffering a new training-related injury that forced him to withdraw from the tournament.

Benzema has returned to Madrid and is undergoing rehabilitation after the heartbreak of missing yet another World Cup. Additionally, it is now asserted that the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner should fully recover in two weeks.

After that, Benzema will participate in a “pre-season” that Antonio Pintus, the team’s fitness and conditioning coach, has created especially to help him get ready for the second half of the season.

On December 30, Real Madrid will travel to Real Valladolid to resume their defense of their La Liga championship. And according to reports, Benzema ought to be fully healthy and prepared for that match.

Only 12 of Real Madrid’s 21 games in all competitions in 2022/23 have seen Benzema on the field. In those appearances, the club captain, who will turn 35 in a few weeks, has scored six goals and assisted on one more.

Carlo Ancelotti and company are reportedly not interested in adding a new center-forward in the January transfer window, despite his injury issues this season. Instead, the Merengues will keep supporting Rodrygo Goes as a substitute striker and Benzema’s cover.
