Dean Henderson, the goalkeeper for Man United, has spoken criticism on his own team after reuniting with Jesse Lingard at Nottingham Forest.
Dean Henderson has criticized Manchester United for the way they handled Jesse Lingard’s career during his last year at Old Trafford.
Henderson and Lingard have reconnected at Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest. Lingard was released by United at the conclusion of last season after his contract expired. The offensive midfielder has signed a one-year deal with the City Ground team.
In an effort to revive his career after a disastrous campaign at Old Trafford last year, he has rejoined forces with United goalkeeper Henderson, who is with Steve Cooper’s team on a season-long loan. Prior to the start of the last campaign, former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer promised both Henderson and Lingard important roles in the team, but they never materialized.
The pair could only make 24 outings together, with Lingard winning 21 of them. Henderson, though, is supporting the 29-year-old to make his imprint and insists that he was in the exact same situation at Old Trafford last season. The former United player has joined Forest in an effort to restart his career.
Like myself, Jesse is buzzing as well, Henderson said to talkSPORT. “I was contacting him daily, going over the top and inviting him to join me. He was really happy.
People won’t believe it, but he spoke with manager Solskjaer about the same issue in the same circumstance.
“He is confident that the project at Forest will succeed and benefit all parties.
“I think it’s a brilliant plan; he adds value to the team, and I can’t wait for him to start flying again and experience love once more. He will feel liked here, and the teammates, management, and supporters will all support him.
He will experience love and be eager to begin again.
Before the 2021/22 season began, Lingard returned to Old Trafford following an impressive loan stint at West Ham, where he scored nine goals and collected five assists in just 16 games. Prior to his approaching the final year of his contract, United had the chance to sell him for a fair price.
Lingard was persuaded to stay at the club by Solskjaer, who assured him that Lingard will play a significant role in his plans. He requested to go on loan in January for a second straight season, but that request was also denied.
Henderson went on to say “Last season was challenging for Jesse as well because of obstructions that prevented him from playing football. It is difficult after a year out, as I have.
“He established a solid rapport with the West Ham supporters. I don’t believe West Ham was present. Did they truly want him so badly? I’m not certain.
“I believe that everything should be taken with a grain of salt. The best thing I could have done was use social media, which has worked out well for me. I enjoy life, worry about nothing, and avoid reading any of the garbage online.
“Jesse is working on it, I’m sure of that. That might be harmful to him. However, based on his personality and sense of self-assurance, I don’t believe he actually gives a damn. I only hope that he can give Forest the performances I know he can.”
