In my own opinion, Thomas Tuchel should have given him the chance to prove himself. He could have saved one penalty.
Anything can happen in football, but I would have given Edouard Mendy the chance to prove himself because he did extremely well during the game and he could have become the Chelsea hero in the penalty shootout.
