Eder Militao could start for Brazil against Switzerland after another injury, with Rodrygo replacing Neymar.
The Brazil national team camp may be concerned about defender Danilo’s health in the wake of reports that Neymar sustained an injury.
When the Selecao defeated Serbia 2-0 in their opening match of the FIFA World Cup 2022, the former Real Madrid right-back started for them.
The Juventus star, however, has reportedly reported some pain in his left ankle, according to the most recent update from MARCA’s Mario Cortegana.
Danilo allegedly underwent tests earlier today after which he went back to the team hotel to continue his treatment rather than participating in the workout.
His participation in Brazil’s upcoming match against Switzerland on Monday is therefore uncertain at this time.
Eder Militao of Real Madrid would be a candidate to start for Brazil in place of Danilo if he were to not recover in time.
Although Militao is a center back by trade, he has previously played right back for club and country. Therefore, it’s possible that Tite will turn to the former FC Porto star if Danilo is unable to play against Switzerland due to injury.
Three Real Madrid players are part of the World Cup roster for Brazil. In the match against Serbia, Vinicius Jr. started and performed admirably while Rodrygo Goes came off the bench. Militao wasn’t used as a replacement that night, though.
However, Danilo’s predicament might make it possible for him to play against Switzerland, and Rodrygo might also start since Neymar is essentially out of the match.
Dani Alves, a 39-year-old veteran defender who is still on the team, will be another choice for the Selecao manager.
