Erik Ten Hag prefers Marcus Rashford up front and he believe that he can score up to 20 goals this season.
All of the Manchester United players had a forgettable season the previous time around, with the exception of Cristiano Ronaldo and David de Gea.
The club had three different managers in charge for differing periods of time, but none of them succeeded in elevating the team above sixth place.
Along the way, a lot of unwelcome records were broken, and interim manager Ralf Rangnick suggested that the team needed as many as 10 players to become competitive once more.
Six new players have already joined the club under Erik ten Hag’s leadership, and United lost its first two games in the Premier League before going on a four-game winning streak.
The resurgence of Marcus Rashford as a force to be reckoned with has also been one of the major success stories of the season thus far.
The striker for ETH is Rashford
The Mancunian has contributed with three goals and two assists in the last four games while playing as the striker, compared to five goals and two assists for the entire previous campaign.
And The Sun have now sensationally claimed that Ten Hag is a huge fan of the all-new Rashford and that “Manchester United’s players think the team are better off with Rashford playing up front — and Cristiano Ronaldo benched.”
The Dutch manager believes the 24-year-old has what it takes to make the striker’s position his own and can go on to become one of the world’s best.
Such is their relationship at the moment that the United boss has even admitted to helping the academy graduate to make his comeback into the national team.
“The manager wants Marcus to be the lone striker for United and start at the front. He wants Marcus to express himself in matches because he thinks he has the potential to be among the best in the world.
“He constantly reminds him to exploit his speed and abilities when the opportunity arises. He assured Marcus that he would likely score 20 goals this year. Marcus is really content, and they have a terrific relationship, according to the story.
Ronaldo dilemma
Regarding the Ronaldo paradox, most players experience pressure when playing with him since he constantly demands the ball and the other players feel like they are just supporting actors.
And by skipping preseason, the Portuguese hasn’t exactly made a name for himself. His colleagues claim that his playing style does not align with what the team should be doing under the new boss.
The pressure is on the team with Ronaldo on the field. Although they were all happy to see Ronaldo return, they are disappointed that he missed pre-season.
Ronaldo relies on instinct and is not up to speed, but Ten Hag’s method doesn’t function that way.
United’s current No. 7 player has only made two starts, both of which were losses. He has not yet accessed his season’s account.
