Facundo Pellistri reveals why he was taken off 13 minutes after coming on for Manchester United vs Atletico Madrid.
Facundo Pellistri has disclosed that he was substituted out of the 1-0 friendly loss to Atletico in Norway after only 13 minutes because of a twisted ankle.
On the 76th minute, the attacker came on to replace Anthony Elanga; however, a little while later, the injury caused him to leave. The 20-year-old scored during the club’s 4-0 victory over Liverpool in Bangkok despite playing only 45 minutes during the club’s preseason tour of Thailand and Australia.
Pellistri had a trying loan season at Alaves last year after moving there from Uruguayan team Penarol for £8 million.
The winger started every game in the first half of the season but failed to make an impact, playing just 76 minutes of football in 2022.
However, the young player might be traveling to Qatar for the World Cup with Uruguay after appearing in June’s matches, bringing his total number of caps to six. Despite this, it seems unlikely that he will make Ten Hag’s United’s roster for the upcoming campaign.
After the final horn in Oslo, Pellistri posted on Twitter, saying: “I’m good! I twisted my ankle, which made me unable to complete the game. Go, Manchester United.
