With the game’s first goal in Sunday’s 4-0 victory against Nantes for PSG, Messi continued his impressive run ahead of the new Ligue 1 season.
The seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or circled Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont before putting his team in front.
Before the halftime, Neymar doubled PSG’s advantage, and Sergio Ramos added a brilliant backheeled goal to make it 3-0.
When Jean-Charles Castelletto received punishment for taking Neymar to the ground inside the area, Nantes were then down to 10 men.
The Brazilian stepped up to convert the penalty, giving PSG a comfortable win and their 15th Trophee des Champions title.
At the Bloomfield Stadium in Tel Aviv, Israel, a young fan tried to take a photo with Messi as he was leaving the field after the game.
The youngster was pulled away from the Barcelona man by security after being seized.
Messi stopped when there was a ruckus, and the security guard let the kid go so he could have a selfie with the Argentine superstar.
Messi has received appreciation from his followers on social media for speaking to the young fan.
One supporter tweeted, “Messi’s a nice person.”
“You gotta adore this man,” said another.
PSG, the Ligue 1 champions, will start defending their championship on Saturday when they travel to play Clermont Foot.
