Former Barcelona striker opens-up after he finally scored his first Chelsea goal against Crystal Palace.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has praised Chelsea’s victory over Crystal Palace, in which he scored on the Blues’ Premier League debut.
For the second straight game, Graham Potter selected the 33-year-old to start, and the Chelsea head coach was rewarded when the player scored a beautiful goal in the 38th minute.
After receiving a nod from Thiago Silva, the Gabonese player turned and shot past Vicente Guaita to erase Odsonne Edouard’s first goal and tie the score.
Chelsea’s game-winning goal by substitute Gallagher gave them a crucial 2-1 victory away from home that lifted them into fifth place in the Premier League.
Even though Aubameyang is still recovering from a fractured jaw, he was happy to contribute to the team’s back-to-back league victories.
According to him, scoring your first goal as a striker at Chelsea early in your career is a big relief. He said as much on the official Chelsea website.
“Thiago instructed me to get inside the defender because he believed Reece would play for a long time. So I entered, turned my body and a little bit manipulated the defender to get some room, and then I was able to find the corner. I like to refer to it as a “striker’s finish”
“It was a pretty tough game, but I believe we were in control, and to get the win, I think it’s a tremendous job from the whole team,” the player said.
The game was decisively won by Chelsea’s substitute Gallagher over his former team, where he had been on loan the previous season.
The 22-year-old gave Potter his first victory in charge of the Blues since being named head coach last month when he scored the top corner in the 89th minute.
Because of Gallagher’s admiration for the Eagles, the party was kept to a minimum. Gallagher acknowledged: “I have enormous respect for Crystal Palace, and I’m grateful for all they did for me, including the great reception they gave me before and after the game when I scored. Simply said, I have far too much regard for them.”
Even though Gallagher did not join in the celebration, his teammates did so on and off the field, and Aubameyang was all praise for the Englishman’s goal that gave the visitors the victory.
In conclusion, Aubameyang said, “Conor’s goal was ridiculous! We were all dancing about on the bench because it was a fantastic finish and goal, and we are overjoyed to have earned three points.
