Former Manchester United director Michael Knighton is preparing a hostile bid to buy the club from Glazers.
While preparing a hostile takeover offer, former Manchester United director Michael Knighton has dubbed the Red Devils a “club in crisis.”
Michael Knighton, who served as United’s director from 1989 to 1992, spoke with Man United The Religion about the club’s current situation and his attempts to acquire it.
“We all understand why the club we belong to is in trouble. We have an ownership that is clueless about this football game and is stupid and frankly unhelpful,” said Knighton.
The former director continued by stating that he is putting up a purchase proposal for the club.
“Everyone is aware that this football club needs new ownership. That is my intention, those are my goals.
“I’m making good progress, I keep communicating with the public, and I have some solid financial pledges.
We are now working on the offer document; keep in mind that this is a hostile bid.
A “hostile bid,” he explained, “means the club isn’t officially for sale, but my objective is to present these owners with a real, potent, and proper commercial offer to say “you’ve run out of road, it’s time to go, because your time is up.”
And very frankly, the regime has grown old among supporters everywhere.
Speaking about the Brighton game and how the fans’ enthusiasm was being sapped, Knighton acknowledged their grievances.
“We all experience the wonderful sense of a new season, and the excitement balloon was present, but it was swiftly burst when we watched the performance against Brighton.
“Quite honestly, I believe the Lionesses would have performed better if we had played them.
The scenario is that “the club is in crisis and it will be in crisis as long as we have this current ownership.”
Knighton’s remarks will be encouraging to many United supporters who have been pleading for a new administration to take charge of the team for a long time.
We’ve got some solid people on board, I’m talking to the proper people, and we’ll make a formal, hostile bid.
“I think the present share plan is really just a smokescreen to keep the current owners in place.
“Wait till you have a legitimate opportunity to buy a proper block of shares that provides you actual authority, is my advise to anyone,”
“In my opinion, the existing plan does not accomplish that.
Take your own independent, separate legal and financial advice if you choose; but, this shareholding genuinely benefits the fans.
When asked about the protests that have occurred over the course of the past season or so, Knighton expressed great comprehension and sympathy for them.
“Fans will inevitably protest because they are frustrated and disappointed; what else can they do to express their discontent with these protests?
“The protests are extremely well organized and peaceful, which is crucial since nobody would accept violence.
These are nonviolent demonstrations by supporters who are merely expressing their desire for regime change.
So, yes, protests will continue until they result in the change that everyone desires, which is inevitable.
So, yes, protests will continue until they result in the change that everyone desires, which is inevitable.
He was adamant in his declaration of his strategy when asked for a last statement regarding his bid.
“My consortium is prepared and waiting; the money has been promised, and the offer document is being prepared for presentation.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who can solve all of our problems and eliminate my job, is still on the sidelines, but I can assure you that my consortium will place their bid very soon until he does.
Many Manchester United supporters find the club’s transfer activity to be annoying, so the idea of a new takeover can seem like a dream come true.
