Jamie Vardy Is ‘Being Monitored By Manchester United And Chelsea’ As Solution To Striker Problems.
According to sources, Manchester United is keeping an eye on Jamie Vardy’s situation at Leicester City as Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Old Trafford is still up in the air.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo has reportedly wanted to leave Manchester United this summer in order to play in the Champions League for the remainder of his career, according to a story from last month.
The 37-year-old took the field against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday in his first preseason game. He thinks he has three to four more years to play at the elite level.
But when he left Old Trafford before the final siren after being replaced at halftime, everyone took notice.
So, this summer, would he try to replace Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani with another striker?
According to a report from 90min, several clubs, including both United and Chelsea, are keeping an eye on Jamie Vardy’s current predicament at the King Power Stadium.
The 35-year-old is a seasoned Premier League goal scorer and still has one year remaining on his contract with Leicester.
Under Brendan Rodgers, he scored 17 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions the previous season, shattering the previous high for goals scored in the top division of England after the age of 30.
According to reports, Vardy and the Foxes have not yet started contract negotiations.
Vardy’s future at the club will be evaluated this summer, Leicester manager Rodgers stated earlier this year.
Although there may have been discussions behind the scenes, he said, “for the moment, we’re very calm about it.”
He is ecstatic to be here. In the summer, I’m sure we’ll evaluate it and have a look at it.
Chelsea are also monitoring the situation closely as they want to offload German international Timo Werner.
