Jules Kounde couldn’t be registered for today’s game, but Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Dembele are all available.
The La Liga registration deadline for this weekend’s first round of games has passed, and Barcelona was able to juggle their finances to the point where all but one of their new signings and re-upped players could be registered.
Jules Koundé, a former long-time target of Chelsea, is the odd man out. Koundé was not expected to play this weekend, though it is amusing to see the player who turned down Chelsea get turned down by his own new team. Koundé has only recently returned from offseason surgery and is still gaining match fitness.
Naturally, this also means that Barcelona will need to release players from their contract or agree to salary reductions in order to free up cap space before adding a new player like Marco Alonso.
Memphis Depay appears to be the first to go, possibly moving to Juventus. He could be followed by others, such as Frenkie De Jong and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who are currently heavily linked with Chelsea.
De Jong’s steadfast desire to stay may finally be discouraging us, but the Aubameyang transfer saga is heating up, with Chelsea reportedly interested in the lower end of a €10-20 million transfer and Barca, of course, interested in the higher end.
Although the Alonso deal should be finalized this coming week, Tuchel spoke in generally positive terms about Aubameyang on Friday, and we might still be dealing with Barcea this summer.
