La Liga president revealed the player he want to see return back to the league between Ronaldo and Messi.
La Liga president Javier Tebas stated that he wants to see Lionel Messi back to Barcelona in an interview with the Argentine publication Ole.
Messi spent his entire career with Barça until leaving last year, but the club was unable to extend his contract. The 35-year-old joined PSG and committed to a two-year deal that would terminate at the conclusion of the current season.
A return to Barcelona has received a lot of attention since the Argentina captain is expected to become a free agent in the summer. And Tebas has now come clean about his desire to see Messi return to Spanish football, stating that it would benefit everyone.
The president of La Liga also made fun of PSG and Ligue 1 in the process, claiming that less people are tuning in to see Messi play in the French top division now than they were when he was at Barcelona.
“I believe that Messi is missed not only in La Liga but also in all of football because, well, the French league is what it is. Tebas stated, “I think he is followed considerably less than when he was at FC Barcelona, regardless of how fantastic he is at PSG.
Because of this, Lionel Messi is missed by football, and we all hope he has a terrific World Cup where we can all see him again. I don’t see everyone in the stadium watching PSG play Nantes.
The La Liga president then acknowledged that he missed seeing Messi play and expressed his desire to see him return to Barcelona, saying:
In La Liga, I did see him a lot more frequently at Barca. I miss him, and it’s up to him whether or not he has one last dance. I’m hoping he returns. Most importantly, it would be beneficial for him to return to Spanish football, particularly with the team where he was born.
Tebas went on to imply that it was a mistake for Barcelona and Messi to split last year, saying:
Because it would have really aided him with consistency, like the Messi-Barca brand, which is very significant for a player, I believe it was a mistake even for him to end that marriage, that relationship since he was born in football.
While Inter Miami FC is reportedly interested in signing Messi, who is 35 years old, Barcelona are hope to re-sign him next summer. A choice regarding his future is anticipated following the FIFA World Cup.
