Leroy Sane to Manchester United? Bayern Munich responded to Erik ten Hag interest ‘rumours’ for the former City star.
Hasan Salihamidzic, the sporting director at Bayern Munich, has shot down rumors that Leroy Sane, a German international, has been contacted by Manchester United.
The former Manchester City player is the subject of a “shock enquiry,” according to a report in the Mirror, as United looks to bolster their offensive options before the transfer market closes at the beginning of next month.
The Ajax star Antony has been mentioned frequently over the summer as someone United is looking to add to their arsenal of wide forwards.
The Dutch powerhouses, though, are adamant on keeping hold of the Brazilian, so United will likely have to look elsewhere to get fresh offensive potential.
With players like Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Anthony Elanga, and Alejandro Garnacho, who can all play on the flanks, the Reds now have a respectable depth in the wide areas.
They are still eager to expand their arsenal of assault possibilities, though. Sane, though, doesn’t seem to be the choice after Bayern denied rumors that United had made a bid for him.
Salihamidzic told Sky90, “There’s no truth behind that.” “He is a crucial member of our team. Regarding that, there is absolutely nothing to say.”
Sane joined Bayern from City in July 2020 in a move worth more than £50 million. He will be trying to help Germany retake the World Cup from France in Qatar later this year. Since his arrival in Munich, he has been a huge success for Bayern, contributing to their six major trophy victories.
With Sadio Mane’s arrival from Liverpool earlier this summer, Sane, who has 25 goals in 91 games for the Allianz Arena team, faces an uncertain future at Bayern. Sane was benched as Mane and Serge Gnabry started the opening Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday.
