Lionel Messi’s dressing room influence have something to do with Kylian Mbappe’s decision to leave PSG.
Kylian Mbappe wants to leave Paris Saint-Germain as soon as possible, only a few months after agreeing to a new deal.
The French international is reportedly feeling “betrayed” by PSG and wants to leave the Parc des Princes, according to stories that have now been confirmed by a number of newspapers and sites, including Mario Cortegana of MARCA.
The winner of the 2018 FIFA World Cup has even been said to be interested in joining Real Madrid, just months after passing them up in favor of a lucrative contract with Les Parisiens.
In the middle of all, Mario Cortegana has offered more information about Mbappe’s abrupt wish to end his relationship with PSG.
According to the journalist, the Frenchman’s desire to move on may be motivated in part by former Barcelona captain Lionel Messi.
The 35-year-old Argentine international is said to have significant influence in the PSG locker room, just as he had when he played for Barcelona.
And according to the report, Mbappe thinks that such a climate is not helpful for the team’s attempt to win the UEFA Champions League. It is well known that the 23-year-friendship old’s with Neymar has been worse lately.
All of these elements appear to have contributed to Mbappe’s desire to leave the team, even as early as January.
It’s even been said that PSG was willing to let its star striker go as early as July, just a few months after he signed his new deal, so long as he didn’t join Barcelona’s bitter rivals Real Madrid. He ultimately decided to remain at the club, though.
But it appears that things have finally come to a head, which is a fascinating development given that Messi’s future in Paris is also up in the air. The 35-year-deal old’s with the Ligue 1 champions ends at the end of the current campaign, and a return to Barcelona has been strongly rumored.
