Following his terrible performance against Brighton on Sunday, Scott McTominay was harshly criticized by Manchester United supporters.
The start of Erik ten Hag’s tenure as Man United manager couldn’t have been worse as his team lost to Graham Potter’s Brighton at Old Trafford.
Thanks to a brace from Pascal Gross, the visitors led by two goals at the half.
Alexis Mac Allister’s own goal gave the hosts a chance to tie the score, but they were unable to do so.
Fans singled out McTominay, who struggled to get going in the middle of the pitch, and Man United weren’t in the game. Their midfield was exposed.
Since Ten Hag ultimately took him out in the 77th minute after his careless tackle on Moises Caicedo, he was fortunate to escape a red card.
On social media, Man United supporters voiced their displeasure at McTominay’s underwhelming performance.
After Man United lost to Brighton 2-1, Roy Keane criticized McTominay, saying he wasn’t “good enough.”
He said on Sky Sports, “Fred and McTominay, not good enough. “Man United won’t be competing at the top,”
