Just one day after Manchester United’s defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly played for the Red Devils in a friendly match played behind closed doors.
In United’s Premier League debut, the portuguese international started on the bench for Erik ten Hag’s team. Pascal Gross scored twice for Brighton as they won 2-1 at Old Trafford.
Graham Potter’s team led 2-0 at the interval after scoring twice in the final nine minutes of play. Alexis Mac Allister’s unlucky own goal gave the Red Devils a chance to tie the score in the second period, but they were unable to do so.
Ronaldo replaced midfielder Fred when he entered the game in the 53rd minute, but he was unable to make the effect that Ten Hag had hoped he would.
The former Real Madrid and Juventus player reportedly played for the Red Devils in a friendly match against National League team Halifax on Monday (August 8).
United set up the game to provide players who didn’t start against the Seagulls at Old Trafford some much-needed playing time.
It happened at the club’s Carrington training facility, and according to reports, the Premier League team defeated their non-league opponents 5-1.
Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were among the other first-team players that reportedly started.
Along with Tom Heaton playing in goal, young stars James Garner, Anthony Elanga, and Alejandro Garnacho were also there.

Reports state that the Red Devils defeated Halifax 5-1, however it is still unknown who scored for either team.
The following week, Liverpool will come to Old Trafford for Manchester United’s next game, which is on the road against Brentford on Saturday.
